Is it possible to keep up with style trends by only spending $5 on an item?
I'm going to find out.
I was trying to decide what I was going to wear to a couple of parties and my initial conditioned thought was 'I have no clothes'.
Bullshit.
I have so many clothes. I've got clothes at my dad's house, our car and in space bags downstairs in storage. I have a lot of clothes. Not all fit, not all suit me and not all are in great condition. I do have a lot of clothes I've sorted through and are waiting to go to charity. I've even thrown out clothes AND shoes. I am no longer a clothes hoarder.

Anyway, I have clothes. Clothes that may not be in fashion now though. So can I update these clothes without being a sewing genius (which I am definitely not) and on a tight budget? How about for $5 and less? I'm talking clothes, shoes, make-up and accessories.
I've bought clothes for $5 before at Op Shops, Tree of Life, Target, Big W, Kmart, Supre, Ice - you know all those stores. I know it can be done. Can it be done for longer than one shopping trip though? Can these clothes be stylish?

ReplyDeleteBabe, I reckon the best "finds" are often in our wardrobes (or opshops or markets) - just takes some style inspiration, creativity, and a good dose of your own individuality to make up a fab outfit which expresses your own brand of Awesome.

PS: OMG, thanks for including me in the list of 'Inspirational Stylish Godesses'! I'm showing this to my husband tonight and I might just get lucky xxx
I had a friend who didn`t buy any new clothes for a year and instead sewed or knitted them all (except for underwear I think she said) mainly from things she already had in her ever growing stash of yarn and fabric.
ReplyDeleteWill be great to see what you find! I think you would be surprised with what you own already and what you can do with them!
Good luck!
What a great challenge! Can't wait to see what you come up with! :)

I love this... I'm all about $5 or less! We have Goodwill stores here in the US where people donate gently used items and Goodwill turns around and sells them. All the proceeds go to charitable causes. Long story short... I've bought a crap-ton of designer clothes for between $3 and $5 bucks AND I've helped people in need at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI have read some of your blog today and may I say, you are a gifted writer.
ReplyDeleteKeep going, you're brill girl.
I wish you and your baby a very safe & healthy delivery.
